Yes
I all I'm considering the above lenses for street/event/portrait/etc I shoot with a Canon 550D and I have considered the sigma 30 1.4 too in the past but it's not for me, I've tried both lenses the 50 and the 85 but I can't seem to be able to decide as I think the 50 would be more versatile but the 85 seams to isolate the subject slightly better, the 50 focusing down to 45cm the 85 focusing at around 90cm. I think I want the 50 but there's something on the back of my mind saying 85! Is there anyone that has been or is in a similar situation?

50mm IMHO, the 85 is very long on a crop sensor even for just portrait headshots. However if you later go full frame then the 85mm punches well above its price tag IMHO, and is the lens most often on my 5D.

I would say th 50 on the crop frame, as that will bring you near the 85mm anyway and it has a extra stop of light, so shallower dop and work better in low light

Then why ask then if the focal range is covered ?
I would be looking at the aperture as you don't have that

That is why I'm asking, aperture and low light usability and the shallow dof, thank u for ur advice.
