Hi All,

I have just purchased the 50mm 1.8 SAM and I am looking for advice on how to get the best out of this lens.

If anyone has any advice or tips then please share

Or if you have any links to websites that have guides/tutorials on how to get the best out of this lens then it would nice if you shared those to :D

Thanks in advance.

the 50mm F1.8 SAM is the Sony lens right?

Regardless of that all 50mm F1.8 will be the same in the way they work, and I know I love mine.

Depends on what you want to take photos of with the lens, for something such as gig work it will mostly being used at the F1.8 end all the time, or to get a nice Bokeh in your photograph.

If you want to get all the image nice and sharp and not much out of focus you will probably use it more at F8

Depends on your circumstances, but I know that at F1.8 it is great for low light work and you will love the results it gives.

Hope that Helps
Jamie

The thing that a 50 1.8 does that you cannot achieve in any other way is shallow depth of field at f/1.8. Obviously, the closer you go, the shallower it gets, for creative effect.

A good subject is portraits - get in close for a good tight head shot and focus carefully on the eyes. Looks great
