50mm vs 42mm ??

Is there a huge difference ?

And is the tamron's 28-75mm f2.8 , 28mm true 28mm.


origins of my questions comes from the thought that I want wide lens on my film camera. I just bought a nifty fifty again and was thinking if it will be somewhat similar to 28mm I used on canon 1.6x crop digital.

any thoughts ?

I don't believe 28mm on zoom is actually like 28mm prime distance. I think I've read that tamrons is a bit longer.

I don't need to divide I was just curious how would 50mm on fullframe compare to 28 on 1.6x crop camera.

not that it matters much, but still.
