550D -> 650D?

I've currently got a 550D with a 17-55mm lens. One of the things I really miss is the pop out/tiltable screen.

I don't want to spend a fortune, and I can look at trading in my 550D for another camera to offset the cost. The 650D seems to fit the requirement of a pull out screen, however are the video and photo options an upgrade over the 550D?

I did look at the 70D, however unfortunately there is almost a £350 difference in price. Understandably it's a better camera, however unfortunately I do not have that type of money at the moment, and I am currently finding myself in situations where the camera is either above or below me, and I cannot look through the viewfinder or at the screen
 
I paid £538 for my immaculate 70D and sold my 450D for £90 so basically I paid just under £450. That's a big saving over the list price of around £740.

Sounds like you undersold youR 450d!

IMHO all you will get is the flip screen I think the image quality will be the same

I've got a 550D, and i've not sold it.

Looking on eBay for example, previously sold 550D's go for around £200. A 70D body sells on eBay for around £500 which are manufacturer refurbs and DigitalRev have them for £569

well I have just moved from a 600d to a 650d(only because I got a great deal which is nearly offset by what I am getting for the 600d else I wouldn't have bothered).. I just cannot be bothered to carry about large cameras now for personal pics and have had and fell out of love with every mirrorless system..

apart from the 650d being touch screen they are pretty much the same, they seem to have tuned the video mode on the 650d as the video switch is now on the on/off switch(it is now off>on>video) and now has built in stereo mics.
 
I think wave01 is dead right. If the screen is important then go for it but don't expect much in the way of improvement of the image. Unless you move to something like a 750D or 760D your are really paying whatever the difference is for the tiltable screen.
 
650d is Digic5 and 5fps so there are differences but its all about how much extra you are going to be spending to get the 650d. shame you didn't see my 600d FS thread as with what I am asking for it and what you would get for the 550d would have only been £20-30 difference.
