5D classic to D700

Again, in my case im stuffed, as the Nikon body seems best but I prefer the Canon lenses.

I look longingly at the range of Canons longer lenses compared to Nikons..........You are not aone.......

Thanks perhaps its better to have a look at the 80-200, not being used to shooting at such hi ISO levels I tend to favour the IS/VR models. I wont really use the tele so much so thought for the odd long shot a cheap long lens may do.

I wouldnt touch a Sigma 70-200 again, had 3-4 copies in various mounts, one went in for calibration and was pretty good but not even close to my Minolta 80-200 wide open. Now Id prefer to stick to big name lenses and a couple Tamrons.

I have the 80-200 and it's a cracking lens.

Also, is the D700 that much better or would I be better off sticking with what Ive got? I mainly take portrait and landscape, not many moving subjects.

If you were shooting moving subjects, or shooting in poor light I would say go for the D700. As you already have several Canon lenses and shoot portrait and landscape I would suggest that you stay with what you have.

my 2p... Its very expensive either way although sticking to the brand you have would be easier for you (wouldn't it?).

But, Can you hire or borrow a 5dmkii and the d700 plus one of the lenses you are interested in?

Reason being you can shoot the same scene/place with your current camera, the 5dmkii and the d700 and compare which you get on with more. Weeks hire would be better than swapping kit to find you don't get on with it.
