5D Firmware update help needed...please

I am just trying to install an updates version of firmware but having trouble doing so. I have downloaded the update file onto the desktop of my mac and then dragged it into the first window which opens which i click on my cf card (through the card reader). However once i eject the card and install it in my camera, i then go to firmware but it is as though it does not find any upgrade on the card. Can anyone help please?

Not done one on the 5D2 yet but... you have extracted the file first if it came as a zip or something compressed? and you have put it in the root of the CF card not in a subfolder?
 
When i download the update onto my mac desktop it leaves two files there. One is labelled EOS 5D mk II v.124 and the other is labelled eos5d2124.dmg. Which one am I meant to drag onto the CF card?
