Do you use custom settings on your 5d's.

if so, whats your settings, especially those what have played and tweaked! what have you found most useful!
 
I'm a landscape photographer so my custom settings might help (on a Mk3 but should be compatible)

C1 is my main go-to landscape setting which gives me a quick starting point.
ISO100
Manual exposure
F11
1/30th
Mirror lockup
Single shot drive
Single point focus, though I usually manual focus or use liveview

C2 is my long exposure setting, for Big Stopper shots
ISO100
Manual exposure
F11

Mirror lockup
Single shot drive
Single point focus, though I usually manual focus or use liveview

C3 is my bracketing setting, for HDR
C1 is my main go-to landscape setting which gives me a quick starting point.

I hasten to add I use these as a quick base setting, I vary them as required, it is just handy to know that if I see something as I'm driving that I need to grab then C1 and I'm up and running in the right direction.

I have just reset all mine and started a fresh.
C1 for grab shots of family/kids/outdoor
AV priority
Auto ISO
Thumb control for the focus point
Ai


I use a 10 stop and do land scape as well so i may try your set ups as a start.

they are such a useful tool
 
C1 - general outdoor, AV, Iso 400 etc. C2 - studio f2.8, 125th, iso 50, C3 - studio f8, 125th, iso 400.

Very useful !
 
I don't use it, it resets every time camera goes off, couldn't get my head around that. when I raise my camera to my eyes, I expect the settings I used last time to reappear.

I do set them when I find myself needing some pre-set in constant lighting. eg, at airshow, C2 for planes (Tv, auto ISO), C3 for video (all manual) and C1 for shooting people on the ground (Av).
 
it does take a bit of getting used to. And from what i have learnt thet are best used as a starting 'go to point'.

I dont think you could have C1 set and then never tweak it each time you go to it. It seems to be that you set it for a general situation and then depending on the specifics of the situation you tweak accordingly.

My C2 is set for 10stop landscape work.

Its when you get into the cutom functions and set them in a Cx mode that you need to be carefull. Do you really want highlight tone priority when shooting landscapes.

Im toying with the idea of making a little ref card to keep in the bag so that i know the setting is detail just in case...
