5D III lock up?

Hi all,

Anyone had a problem with their 5D III locking up? It happens every so often when I shoot a frame (typically in high speed shutter mode) and the camera fails to write it to the card. After a few more frames the buffer fills and camera locks up. The only solution is to remove the battery (and lose the frames).

I've tried multiple cards (from fast to slow), both CF and SD, firmware update, different lenses, resetting manufacturer settings...

Argh!

You've tried everything I would suggest, so I'd be tempted to phone Canon @ Elstree to see if they can offer any support,

How long have you had it and where did you buy it from ?

Haven't had a complete lock-up on my DIII (though I've had it happen once on the 7D), but I see an issue with the battery meter every time I switch the camera on . I have the genuine Canon grip and two genuine Canon batteries in it, but even with fully charged batteries, it's always showing me a flashing (exhausted) battery icon in the LCD until I've taken a shot. Once the first shot has gone, it presents the correct battery state on the LCD.:suspect:

Hi all. Ed, it sounds quite a basic problem but essentially you take a picture and sometimes the first frame won't write to the card. I've tried to recreate it consistently but can't. In fact I shot a wedding at the weekend and it didn't happen once in 300 frames. Two days before it was doing it every 20 or frames... Thanks for the offer though, but I wouldn't want to inflict it on you as well!

I've tried 8-10 different memory cards and it still happens, albeit randomly. I have a second Mk III body and there's no problem with that.

I have a feeling it's just a duff body. I've spoken to Calumet and they haven't had any other problems so I was wondering if anyone on here has had similar issues.
