Seriously, welcome to the 5D3 club, I know you'll enjoy it. I'm just sorting mine out to go out for a while. Just gotta find some kids to shoot lol.

same, i could have got mine from my father in law from canada for £2300 but for those reasons I decided to get it here for £2600
 
some crazy noise test - no processing, all straight out of the camera raw files

I was sat on the toilet having a poo and fiddling (with the camera :-)) and i took some shots to see what the ISO could do. This is how dark it actually was in my office

100% crop, yup there is noise, but holy cow, 12800 I could print that shot at a4 with no worry

That is very good, and the apparent absence of any chroma noise is quite amazing.
 
Canon rumours seem to be suggesting a recall on the 5d3 is imminent..... have you found anything un toward other than the min shutter speed?

i'd have loved to have been able to set a minimum shutter of 160th as that's the lowest I can get away with on some of the performers I shoot.
 
Brian, for the moment the recall rumour is looking tenuous. Canon Rumours have updated saying it may just be a hold-back until they can ship with an updated DPP version but even then it seems very limited to one or two suppliers.

Admittedly I haven't gone nuts with mine yet but there is nothing obvious wrong. On the contrary, a whole lot seems very, very right.
 
Other reports seem to indicate that is BS. Nothing untoward from what I have seen, except the ludicrous iso performance. :lol::lol:
 
I had a really good play with the 3 at focus and loved it.....i'm trying very hard to hold off hitting the button on one until the grip is out .......with so many awesome images being posted about and tales of how much improved it is over the 2 it's getting harder by the day though.
 
I need the grip though, it makes holding the camera with a decent lens on so much easier over extended periods of time.
 
I read somewhere that the BG-E6 (mk 2) grip fits the mk3 also. Unfortunately I can't confirm as I waved bye bye to mine earlier with the mk2.

Edit: WRONG! I found the thread on DPReview and despite the initial info coming from compatibility info on the Canon USA website people have confirmed that the BG-E6 does not fit the mkIII.
