5D mark III dumb question.

I can't find info in the manual so I'm turning to you for some help, as usual. When I look through the view finder I see all the settings but when I go to change the aperture the setting appear on the back screen but disappear from the view finder. This happens when I press the "Q" button to get to the aperture settings. The problem is that I am looking through the view finder and I am forced to look at the back display to see the actual adjustment. Can someone please help me figure out the setting adjustment I need to fix this? Thank you.

why do you press 'q' (whatever that may be...?) instead of turning the aperture control dial?

Look at the top screen rather than pressing Q? I only use Q for stuff I can't access elsewhere, or changing lots of settings at once.

Yep I knew that was a dumb question. Thanks guys I got it now.
