Hi,

I've got a "training" video for the 5D Classic/Mk1 hanging around here. With the Mk2 getting popular, there are quite a few people getting used Mk1's and maybe it would be worthwhile spending an hour or so watching all the features etc described...some people respond better to a demonstration thatn reading the manual.

So, if anyone wants to borrow it then let me know and I'll stick it in the post. I figure that this can work in similar fashion to the Spyder's that are doing the rounds....interested folk are put on a list and the DVD gets sent around...it probably costs no more than a large letter stamp to post.

Anybody want it....please post in thread and we can get a queue going (I'll PM the first respondant to get the address)

Try and make sure it's packed so it'll go through the slot in the post office 25mm tester, I posted a DVD to someone a while back and it only just went through because i'd folded the padded envelope at the end.

The bloody jobsworth tried to charge me £1.60 because it didn't slide through the slot easily so I came home with it, 1st class under 100g and 25mm thick should be 52p and 2nd class 42p with up to £36 insurance if they lose it but only if you get proof of posting when you send it.
 
I would like a look at this too if its possible :)

It's only 13mm thick before the envelope so it should be fine.

Whats the verdict on the DVD......would it be enough to help a talentless 5D owner improve?
 
Got it - thanks CScottMcQueen. Will take a look over the next evening or two.

I'll return it to Canon Bob unless anyone else gets added to the list in the mean time.
 
Is it worth watching? If it just tells you where the buttons are, then i'll pass. If it tells me how to miraculously take better pics, then i'll definitely have a look :D
 
^^^ It's a long time since I saw it but the guys higher up this list might have opinions about its value.

Send it to me next...I will have a good watch of it and write a review on it for all and sundry. Even if it does just show you what buttons do what it is bound to help me improve..hoping and praying

So what's the vid like please?
Does it just cover what the buttons do, or is it more useful/in depth?
Would really appreciate some feedback from those who have seen it - maybe a few words describing what's in it - especially if there's more than can be found by reading the manual?

It is basically a very thorough "what the buttons do" manual with bells on.

That said, its useful if there's something that you werent 100% sure on. For example, it reminded me of the advantage of using the * button in "AF" mode, which I have had set up on my 400D since the weekend and found useful for shooting a sequence of action-type images, where I could choose the time to refocus - and not have to switch to manual or rely on holding the shutter down halfway.

Sometimes just going over the basics can be useful, if only to eliminate another possible reason for producing rubbish images.:bonk:
