Has anyone experienced this problem with their 5D Mk1?
A couple of hours into shooting my first solo wedding I found the camera had returned itself to factory default settings. RAW had switched back to large JPG, AF beep gone from off to on, all custom functions back to default. I quickly flicked through to set the camera up again only to find that a few shots later it had reset itself again. It seems as though whenever it powers down, either in standby or by switching it off, it loses all settings.
I wondered whether it might be the internal battery but the interesting thing is that the date/time stay correct.
Ive just got this camera back from Fixation a couple of weeks ago after having a new focus point illumination screen fitted. It seems a bit strange that its just started playing up as this was its first proper outing after coming back.
Thank god for backup kit is all I can say. I managed the rest of the wedding with just my 5D Mk2.
Andy.
