5D MK11 and Batteries

[Splog]

Hi all

Does anyone know if Canon have coded the 5D MK11 to not recognize non-Canon batteries? Apparantly they will work with the camera, but you can't see charge level, shots remaining etc also the charger won't charge non-Canon batteries? apparantly

Sorry if it's been discussed before but it's new news to me

There's a chip in the battery that the body interogates. 3rd PTY batteries don't have the chip (yet).
