Phew, just gone and spent the last of my inheritance on another new camera. The mrs persuaded me to get it if I wanted it. So I've handed over my 550D and a couple of EFS lenses to the wife and ordered a new 5D MkII with a 24-105L f4 lens, a grip for it and the Canon 580EX II Flashgun. :love:
Should go really well with my almost new 7D and my lovely lenses. To say I'm a happy bunny is a little bit short of what I'm feeling. I'm actually over the moon. :thumbs:
Best thing is I still get to borrow her lenses for my 7D if necessary. I'm just a bit sad about not keeping the 550D but hell I've only got 2 hands. At least it's gone but not forgotten. :)
I love my cameras but not as much as I love my wife, she even persuaded me to get the 7D only about a month ago. :love:

I have the same combo (7d and 5d) a good combination...

Well done, I've the 5Dc and its a great companion to the 60D, so sort of the same setup as you but a step down :)

I think you'll love it, theres just something about the images - I think its that noise no longer feels like noise but more like grain if you get my meaning.

By the way when does it arrive?
 
Congrats on your new toy. You'll more than likely end up using the 5d2 for one kind of photography and the 7d for another.

I went 5d2 and factory refurb 1d3, just spent the last of my pennies on a 70-200 f2.8L and a second hand 580.

My wife didn't complain then again I did divorce her 10 years ago LOL
 
Should get it wednesday or thursday this week. 7D will be out lots of times still as I do a lot of plane shooting (does that sound like terrorism) and the reach will be useful. Cant wait to see how it'll handle my macro stuff. Got a MP-E65 and flash rig coming for christmas too. I didn't even want to sell my 550D so I decided to give it to the wife just to keep it in the family.
Must sort the insurance out as soon as I get it or I wont dare take it out and it'll end up an expensive ornament.
Oh well, not long to go now.

Stuart, you are absolutely right, the 7D is superb for planes and wildlife, the two bodies complement each other.
You getting an MP-E65 too? wow :D

I am sure you are going to enjoy it :)
 
Can I ask where you purchased the 5D MK2 from and how much..?

Hi Mark, got it from HDEWCameras.com and the 5d MkII plus 24-105L f4.0 was £2035 delivered. I really couldn't find anywhere that could better it.

Cheers mate. Is that an import 'grey' item then?
 
It is an import but hdew offer a 3 year guarantee and use a canon service centre anyway. Compared to the fact that I've used ebay before to get my 7D and 550D bodies and they are imports as well with only a 1 year sellers guarantee I'm quite happy. They all take photos like they should do. So far I've never had any problems with any of my gear anyway.
The only bits I've actually brought from a camera shop is my 100-400L and my 100L macro lenses cause I had the cash on me at the time. All the rest of my gear has been purchased online, mainly from trusted ebay shops.

Mine is not gathering dust but it does not see much daylight since I bought the 5DMK2......been mulling over what to do ever since:cuckoo:

A 5DMK3 with 7 FPS would settle it for me:)

Probably would with me too. Think I'd have to trade them both in for it though, then I'd have to borrow the 550D off the wife (that I've just given to her) as a backup. Lol.
 
Would you believe it, I was out when the courier attempted delivery. Doh! Oh well, I've rearranged delivery for tomorrow when I haven't got to take the kids to school. Only takes 15 minutes from leaving to getting back home and they pick then to deliver.
