After searching the site about alternative batteries I read in an old thread that generic batteries will not charge in the canon charger is that right.
Fortunately 7 day shop has finally got some LP-E6's in stock so plan to order a couple. Can I use my canon charger with them?

Also do a lot of landscape and need to purchase a remote control but don't want to pay canon prices, can you recommend me some reasonably priced options please.

I wouldn't bother spending x times as much money of the Canon lp-e6's - I have 2 generic ones which I bought for my 60D which I now use in my 5d mkii and they hold charge nearly as well, are chargeable by the Canon charger and are many times cheaper! I don't know where you saw that generics can't be charged with official charger, I've never heard of that before I must say...

It was a very similar question I asked for a friend who was gettin a 60D (takes same battery) and the conclusion was you are fine with some of the aftermarket batteries and they do charge in the canon charger.

He has bought one from 7 day now and it works in camera and charger a treat.

thanks guys for your help, batteries and RC ordered from 7DS so with a bit of luck may get them Saturday
