Had my first bit of hassles with my Canon gear in over 5 years...currently owning bodies number 5 and 6...

My 5D (Mk I) shutter button went on the blink...took it to a local mate at his repair shop and there was a small bit of corrosion and some sea sand inside...note to self...NEVER let mates use gear again...

Camera was cleaned inside (of really minute flakes of corrosion or possibly specs of sand) and now has as new clean bill of health!

Yes, I did...any reason for that question?

Sounds a bit obscure I know but I had the same problem with mine. I suspected some kind of stuck/dead button. It turned out to be a dirty contact in grip. I took the grip off and refitted it and its worked perfectly ever since.

Andy.

Cheers, Andy!

All seems fine now, grip and camera opened and cleaned, got a thorough sensor clean in the process too...
