Ok as you may have read , one of my 5d's has no power , once i have it repaired i may well sell it on and invest in a 5d MK11 ....

How does the 5D Mk11 compare to the MK1

cheers

Rog

No comparison, the Mk2 is better in many respects and at worst equal to the Mk1 in others.

I have never regretted swapping, although I have decided to get a 7D too!

i know the MK11 is full frame .. not read much about the 7d is that also full frame ... is the hd really warranted ...

what can the 7d offer for the money ... that either 5d can't ...

No the 7D is not full frame it is a 1.6x crop which is why I want it. It makes my 300mm f2.8 seem like a 460mm f2.8 compared to the FF

It has better Af than the 5DMk2, twice as fast drive at 8fps, slightly better weatherproofing, built in flash & wireless control for other Canon flashguns.

5DMk2 has better high ISO, FF goodness, lots more MPs.

now this is strange

my 5d has started up .. , but wont fire .. i can select everything , apart from it seems it can't now find the lens ..

can't get into menu / info etc

Has it been anywhere it could have got damp? Or condensation from going from cold to hot?

I would be tempted to take the batteries out and the lens off, put the body cap on and stick it in the immersion cupboard if you have one overnight. In the morning, make sure the lens contacts are clean and reinsert the batteries and fit the lens.
