Ok im at the stage where I want to go full frame.
My main reason is to get the low noise levels available at high ISO's

Ok so my question is:

Is the 5dmkII worth an extra £850 from the 5d classic.

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

improved build quality and the iso of the 5d mkII is awsome nearlly as good as a nikon
d700.

Great stuff, saves me typing it all again and at my age..................:)

It really depends on what you are shooting because noise shows up more in underexposed blacks than anywhere else. I have shot at 1600 and 3200 on the 5D and at those settings I've had to run them through noise reduction to get a cleaner image.

The other real consideration though is that there is an effect on the maximum shutter speed you can get. If you are trying to shoot kids and you don't have the headroom in your ISO to get a fast enough shutter speed........well you are kind of knackered unless you reach for the flash.

There are some really good reviews on both at dpreview :)

Depends what you're planning on shooting and using it for really. The 5D MkII doesn't have much over what the 5D 'classic' does for my uses :)

if you can stretch for the MKII then go for it, if not the 5D is still a great camera.

I use mine for portraits and it's great.

no, I went from a 50D to the 5DmkII.

Probably thousands of weddings have been successfully shot with the Classic so it's clearly up to the job. If you don't want or need the video then I'm sure you'll feel better equipped with two Classics rather than one MkII.
