5D2 and flash - it all went wrong

Yes
I used my 5D2 with a 430ex II last night at a gig.

I took photos of the first band with no problems, camera in manual and the flash in eTTL with -2ev.

2nd band comes on and when I used the flash it's going hell for leather and the photo is totally overexposed, lots of blinking highlights. It seemed to completely ignore the flash settings and I noticed that there was flash icon on the LCD display on the top of the camera (below the F-stop and above the ISO number) that I'm not sure was there during the first band.

I've had a quick look at the manual but can't see what I've inadvertantly changed settings wise (I'm sure that while I was moving between focus points that I must have done something else by mistake).

Can anyone help?

Thanks :)

Not until tomorrow - I'm at work and the camera is at home.

Sounds like you dialled in +flash exposure. Easy to do if you're changing the ISO and you turn the wheel on the top instead of the wheel on the back (or visa versa).

I'll check the manual again :)

But doesn't the flash exposure compensation (set on the flash) override any FEC set on the camera body?
