5d3 white balance issues

Anyone found any issues with white balance on the 5d3?

I shot a wedding yesterday, and several exposures were seriously out - MAGENTA in colour.

I've also noticed that the 5d3 seems to struggle with mixed lighting types more than the 5d2 used to.

Thoughts?

I've not had that, to the point that auto WB is pretty close to bang on most of the time.

At the end of the day, it's not a massive problem - as can be fixed in post, but I was interested to see if anyone else has had issues.

I had a few issues with my wedding on Thursday but I think that's more to do with the venue than the camera as the pics weren't much different on my 7d.

I should really use that grey card I have in my bag when shooting in churches as they are always the worst for really mixed lighting colours.

Have you tried using a grey card at all?

I can recommend colorchecker passport for jobs like this, slips in your pocket, get another guest just to hold it in front of themselves in the same light, before anyone important arrives, quick reference shot and done.

WB isnt normally a big issue. BUT I can see how a gray card / colour picker jobby could really help with workflow. So - Ive just ordered one. Thanks Mark / Andy.

No probs, hope it works out for you.

If you're using LR colorchecker works even better than it does for me with Capture One, you can create custom profiles with it.

I'm the same in that most times there's no issue but this church I shot at on Thursday had these yellow lights, orange lights, red chairs and an off white paint on the walls, and a pinky red carpet.

No wonder my poor camera was confused!

Ended up spending ages fiddling around with individual colours to get it looking half decent and for that reason alone I'm not only taking my grey card with me like always but actually using it from now on :lol:
