5DII Locking wheel upgrade

Never had the dial move on any of my camera's. Maybe in an war situation or running around a footy pitch or similar, but in normal use not an expense I will be going to :D
 
dpreview mentioned $110 so we are probably looking at £150 lol :P, not something i have ever considered either, wouldn't mind an upgrade to put a weather seal between the Battery grip & camera body.

Happens to me all the time. Exposure reading goes haywire - like 1/1000 sec @ f16 or something, I look and it's on manual. It must happen when I drag the camera out of my bag.

On my old Contaxes a lock was standard. Bloody great cameras!
 
I think it will cost £70-£80, I'm sure I read it on here somewhere?
 
£70 + VAT for a 5D
£60 + VAT for a 7D

Not sure it's worth that much.
Apparently it's the button as fitted to the 60D.
 
Wasn't included in the price I was given, but you might be able to haggle, depends on where the work is actually done - Canon, or your local Canon dealer. Depends on your relationship with them I suppose.
 
My 7D has just been done, awaiting delivery. Weather in Scotland is being used as an excuse by UPS to hold up deliveries, should have arrived 2 days ago.

I think this is for me an essential upgrade, has been a problem with the dial moving during shoots when changing bodies in a hurry!
 
i have a 5dII and wouldnt mind this done as when on the rapid strap i have noticed it switch modes.

would like one for my 50D too.

what was the total and where did you send it for your 7D, just pondering sending my 5DII in for a sensor clean in the new year and at same time get it done.

5DII has just broke 45,000 shots since 27th december last year and not had a clean yet :P
 
Blimey, maybe i should pick my nob off my 60D and sell it for £50 if I get short of cash..lol

Sent it to Canon at Elstree, £85 I think which presumably includes shipping.

I did a report to Canon in March last year of the 7D v 1D mk4 and this was one of the improvements I felt they could make on their range...of course the 1 series don't have the knob so they don't suffer from this.

I was using the 2 bodies (along with my 1D m3) on safari in Tanzania, and as I was changing bodies quite a lot to get different focal lengths and grabbing bodies quickly, I found I had to keep checking that I hadn't accidently moved the knob.

I think it's a worthwhile addition to the bodies.
