5dm2 remote shooting

When I connected a wireless remote I found it would no longer trigger the studio light system I had. I was doing self portrait / practising ( yea, sad I know!!) Is it not able to manage both, does anyone know? I found I could use my hard wired delay/time unit though, problem was cable too short so up and down like a yo-yo! Thanks for any help.

Hard to give precise advice as you don't mention what type of wireless remote or lighting system you are using but you probably need a seperate remote for your camera shutter.

I use a Canon RC-1 Wireless remote (infa-red) to fire the camera shutter & yongnuo RF-602's (radio) to trigger my speedlites.

If you're using something like RF-602s as your wireless triggers for shutter and lighting then you will need two trigger sets - one set to control the wireless shutter release and a second set to trigger the lights. You can't operate the whole lot from just one trigger. Each trigger system will need to operate on its own independent frequency.

If you try to do all this with only one trigger system then the lights will pop while the camera is still raising the mirror. By the time the first curtain has opened and the camera is ready for the flash the lights have already gone dark.

Hey, thanks for the input. I am using two triggers, lights through the hot shoe and remote trigger through the ports on the side. Transmitters through the hotshot I find can be temperamental and it maybe that's just a bit more the case when using the remote trigger as well. Will have a retry and see I can get it to work. Thanks for the input.

It sounds like you have things set up right. Maybe try separating the trigger channels as far as you can - one set with all the dip switches up and the other with all dip switched down. Good luck.
