5DMk3 AF-ON Button

I picked up my MkIII on Saturday and very impressed so far, however, (there always is isn’t there?) with my previous 50D I was able to turn off the focus with the shutter half press, and focus with the AF-ON button. I prefer it, I know it’s not for everybody, but I do. Having scoured the manual and I also have a Wiley Digital Field Guide I cannot find out how to do that. Does anybody know if it’s possible?

Any help much appreciated.

Page 321 in the manual explains how to set that up. It's under Custom Controls in the Custom Function Settings (Tab 2) in the Menu.

You can also access the custom controls from the Q screen. I love how much you can customise the various buttons on this camera.
