If you can afford it, then the 60D is the way to go.

I've got a 550D that I'm using as backup to my 5D3, the only problem with it is that I gave the 550D to the wife when I had a 7D and 5D2. I'd like to get a 60D body as backup to the 5D3 and let the wife have her camera back. I've been scouring the classifieds for a week or two but as yet have been unable to find a good 60D, never mind one at a good price.
The wife is very happy with the 550D, and so am I TBH, as it's light and easy to use and suits her just right. I've got used to the larger bodies with a top window and I'm struggling to remember how to access the 550D quickly when out shooting.
