After a lot of research I've all but parted with my cash for a 60d.

Good choice?
Bad choice?

For now I'd only be able to afford the standard kit lens which would be from a choice of the following:-
EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

My main reason for the body choice is the flip round screen, which would come in really handy for me even though its not everyones cup of tea.

The reason for this post, if I think about it is simply to help me feel better about parting with such a wad full of cash, as I really am usually a tightwad :D
 
If you want a flip screen it is really your only choice anyway!

Good camera with a great sensor. I agree with your choice

As for a lens look also at the Tamron and Sigma offerings before you decide.
 
I really like the 60D, it's no 7D but for me the 7D is too "pro" and a bit too big.

I've ended up using mostly the 18-135mm as a walk about lens as I was fed up not having the range on the smaller lens and by the time it took to switch lens what I'd have wanted to capture would have been gone.
 
When I bought mine I also bought the Sigma 18 to 250 lens which I love, I also have the Canon 17- 85 that I bought SH along with the kit lens from my original 450D 18- 55.


It's a great camera I love mine.
