60d V 7d Motorsport/landscape

Personally I don't think so. A 60D is more than capable of doing both- it would be interesting to know what you think you would gain or why you think the 60D isn't up to the job? If you consider the functionality of old pro cameras that covered these compared to the 60D you know it can be done. That's not to say it's not good to embrace newer tech on occasion but I just think you would be better saving your money.
 
I was referring to the generality that many of the modern cameras have superseded old pro cameras which got the job done while at the same time not advocating we all stick to these old cameras.

The 7D and 60D share the same sensor and the same Digic 4 processor but the 7D uses two of them which is one of the reasons why it has a higher fps rate.
 
Doesn't the 7D also have a superior focusing system as well ?

I never had a 60D, but I sold my 50D to get the 7D and never really looked back. The 7D has it's faults (it can be noisy unless you set it up right) but for motorsport and things like Birds in flight, is very good.
 
a lot comes down to the user to how well they read whats un folding in front of them what light etc there using the camera in and the lenses there using how well they can pan etc the camera can only do so much i would agree the 7d is one nice camera

Yes, there's not as many cross type AF points on the 60D as they were squeezing it in between the 550D and 7D at the time. We know there's some differences between them but we also know or I know that a 40D, 50D, 60D and 7D are all capable of shooting motorsports and landscapes. The crucial point for the OP is what objective he is trying to fulfill- without knowing the problem, a 7D could solve nothing and be a waste of money - maybe he needs two cameras; a 1DX for motorsport and a Phase One for landscapes:D.
 
Think ile stick to the 60D for now and invest in a few more filters as I would like to give landscape photography ago :)

Ive done a few landscape photos but I now have my own motor :)

Was watching Phase one videos on youtube last night lol. What a piece of kit

Filters are always useful for landscapes- ND, ND Grads and Polarisers.

Remember landscapes take a bit of patience so persevere- I have seen myself returning to the same spot 10-15 times just to get the right light. Make notes about position of the sun relative to time of day, know your sun rise/ sun set times- try and gather as much info on conditions as you can- makes a big difference to minimising wasted trips although turning weather can always get you but sometimes it does make the sky too. Spend some time learning about how to meter and work with filters and then just look for things that would hold your attention in a shot- I like to either have a dominant foreground or I'll dominate with sky if there is a lot of contrast and drama in it- I don't really think a 50:50 split works that well but there are always exceptions- let your creativity drive you and have fun:)- oh yeah and try and keep horizons straight- my pet hate:p

Agreed- the few times I've shot with Phase One kit I've not wanted to give it back:naughty::D
