Not sure I would say the results are lacklustre but I guess if you are expecting crazy colours like some of the HDR shots that people post then you may be disappointed!
Other than that it does the job if you don't mind the fact that it outputs only to jpg with no option to get a RAW version. I still take my exposures myself and merge them later but I guess it could be handy for people who can't be bothered to spend ages processing stuff.
I've not tried HDR on the wifes 650D but I will give it a try when I can. I've done a few with my 5D3 and I find them to be quite good. I'm not a fan of highly processed HDR's so the out the camera results are fine with me.
