70-200 f2.8 L & 150-500 OS to 70-200 f2.8 IS L & 2x ?

Ok so I currently have:

A Canon 70-200 f2.8 L and a Sigma 150-500 OS


Do you think its worth while changing this to 70-200 f2.8 IS L and a canon 2x ?

My logic is that I get the IS all the time on the 70-200 which will be handy and I will only have one lens to lug around rather than the two. And the 2.8 & 2x will be (1 stop?) faster than the 150-500

Will the image quality of the 70-200 + 2X be considerably worse than the 150-500?

I also pondered the 120-300 and a 2X but I think I would suffer having to lug that around all the time!!

If you mean the IS L mk2 then yeah it may work OK with 2x (mk3?)

From what I've heard and seen myself the x-500 zooms tend to be rather soft at the long end, and in practice are more like x-400/450mm (whereas 100-400 doesn't quite reach 400, more like 380mm)

Hmm I think I have some reading to do on compatibility!

I could be interested in the 70-200 if you do get rid, don't want one with IS so would be perfect
