Yes
I am looking for either a Canon 70-200 F4L or a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 and just wondered if anyone here experience of either or both to compare between them. I will be looking at a 2nd hand if that makes any difference....

Cheers

Phil

I have used both (albeit the Sigma was on a Nikon).
Both incredibly sharp lenses.
But the Sigma needs to be stopped down a bit to F4-F5 to get a decent shot.
The DOF is mad at F2.8, but if you use a tripod and the subject is still, you could get a decent shot at F2.8

That was shot @ 200mm F2.8
The blurry background is lush!!!

I have the 70-200 F4 L now, and it's tons lighter and smaller, and very sharp even at F4.
My advice, and it's only my opinion of course would be to go for the 70-200 F4.

The Sigma is a huge beast of a lens!!

I have the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and it is a big lens, but gives great results. If I don't want to carry the weight I take my Canon 75-300 f4-5.6 IS which also gives some fantastic results.

I've got the Canon 70-200 f4L, and am delighted with it. Very sharp lens with impecable build quality.

I also looked at the Sigma 2.8 before I plumped for the Canon, but the extra weight put me off, no point in having a very fast piece of glass if you don't carry it with you.

:agree:

Same here - looked at both & opted for the canon f/4. If budget allows I would recommend the IS version as it makes handheld a breeze.

Really, really nice lens. Sharp, light, I always had it in my bag.

It's moved onto my youngest now on his 400D as I've replaced it with the 2.8IS, but if I'm out walking I sometimes grab it back.
