70-200 ish for canon

Evening all

I'm short of a longish zoom lens when I look at my bag, now I'm too tight to buy an is2.8 but I am open to other suggestions be it canon/tamron/sigma or other

Non is 70-200 good saving and is only works if the subject isn't moving; -)
 
I mainly shoot architecture and landscapes so while IS would be nice I'm rarely far from a tripod

Have a tamron 90 macro prime stumac that's nearly that length
 
70-200 non is gets my vote then john tbh... sharp ... great image quality and on budget
 
Budget is under £350, was wondering about the newer 70-300, probably not the DO glass one but have been looking at the sigma 2.8s also
 
I guess the cheaper good options is the Tamron 70-300 VC.
I'd love to have one a the bigger guys, but this "little" lens takes MUCH less space and weight on my bag, it's very cheap and has much better image quality than we could expect. Also, the VC works very well.

What will you mainly use it for?
Indoors or outdoors?
Sports?

The sigma 70-200mm 2.8's all get pretty decent reviews the latest OS model is well out of your budget but you could get a older HSM. If you want to stick canon the 70-200mm f4 is a cracker if you can live with f4. Beyond that your looking at 70-300mm's and it's a toss up between the canon USM and the Tamron USD VC which is the one I would go for as second hand they are a steal.
 
You wont go far wrong with a second hand 70/200 f4 non IS Canon in my view if you're on a low(ish) budget, if you have a tripod then f2.8 isnt worth the (extra) money and if the subject isn't moving you wont need IS, you probably already know this though.

You could get a used Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 for that? I have the HSM 2 (designated Macro, but its not a true macro) and its a great lens.
