70-200mm 2.8 and use at weddings: How do you use yours?

Afternoon all,

Whilst I love the results from my 70-200 2.8 IS mkII, I cant help feeling it doesn't get the use it deserves.

At my last three weddings it didn't leave the kit bag, and all it did was make my bag twice as heavy as it needed to be.

At my last few portrait shoots, I have only used my 85mm as I prefer the look.

So this got me thinking - what do other people use their 70-200's for when it comes to weddings?

Might sound like a daft question, but I am genuinely interested.

I will add a poll to this, but if there's anything else you use it for, please tell me!

I want to love this lens and use it a lot more than I currently am. But I find my 35/85 combo to be covering 95% of the wedding, and my 24-70 for the group shots.

I tend to use a 50mm and a 70-200 on 2 FX bodies, only going wide for the groups etc. Not a fan of wide angle lenses at all. I strongly dislike mid range zooms, although I must be the only person that does lol

In saying that I got myself a 85 1.4 and used it very extensively at my last wedding and like you say yourself the 70-200 was only used for about 10% of the day if even that.

I shot my last wedding with the 70-200mm f/2.8 on one body and a 50mm f1.4 on another. I kept my 17-40mm close for the group shots and occasionally used a 100mm macro for the detailed stuff.

The bulk of the images were shot on the 70-200 though.
