70-300 for Sony user

Hi I currently have the kit lens 18-70 and 55-200 lens on my Sony A200 but feel I would like a bit more reach and am considering buying a 70-300 lens. This would be very much on a budget of £200 max ( I would love to have the Sony G series one but can't spend that much.) I think that leaves the Sony75-300 or the Sigma or Tamron 70-300's. Can anyone give me their opinions of these lenses , which one is best etc or should I consider going for something like a 28-300 which would cover all my needs. I shoot anything really Sport, wildlife, people etc mainly in daylight . Any opinions gratefully received.

not much between the "kit" Sony & the Tammy imo so would get the cheapest (probably the Tammy if Jessops are still doing it for £99).

The APO Sigma is better optically than either but often has a problem on Alphas of the plastic AF ring gear breaking.

Another option would be to look at something s/h like a Minolta 100-300 APO.
 
Thanks for the reply heidfirst much appreciated. I think Jessops are still doing the Tamron for £99 so will probably go that way. I thought that as the Sony is so much dearer it must be better quality but obviously not the case. Do lenses like the 70-300 produce better quality images than the 28-300 type of lens ? Sorry if these are silly questions I am pretty new to dslr's .

as a rule lens designs with larger zoom ratios have to compromise somewhere along the line (usually either on aperture, size/weight or IQ) so all things being equal between similarly priced lenses 1 with a considerably smaller zoom ratio tends to have better IQ.
 
but if you need 300mm then 210mm isn't much good especially if you already have the 55-200.
