I've just had an email from London Camera Exchange in Lincoln saying the release date is 22nd, August and if I wish to reserve one I will receive a new battery as a promotion as well. That's an extra to the bag offer going around as well.

They are also having a launch day on the 31st, August for customers to handle and play with the new camera. I think I'll be going in to see them over the weekend to discuss a part ex with my 1D3 and see what I can do. I might just get one in time for my birthday/anniversary on the 29th

I would wait to see as I remember you were hoping for very good low light noise levels compared to the 60D and 7D if I remember right?

While I take everything written down with a pinch of salt "if" this is actual 70D noise levels then they are no better than the 60D which would work with Canon saying raw was on par with the 60D and looking at iso 3200 especially the detail appears better in the 60D image

Although I take all high iso shots with a pinch as I love the 60D images and some think the sensor is tat so thankfully we are all different! :D

And I look forward to the 70D as love all Canon stuff :D

I swapped my 60D for a 7D primarily for the AFF system but in a lot of ways I wish I'd kept the 60D. The jpeg photos SOOC were much cleaner than the 7D, I could get decent results at ISO3200 with the 60D whereas with the 7D at ISO1600 it's noisy even with the noise reduction on. I always thought if there was a 60D with the 7D AF system I would of been more than happy to keep it and that looks like the 70D will fit there perfectly.

From all the reviews of the 70D I've seen the IQ looks to be great, even the shots I've seen at ISO3200 and above look better than the shots from the 7D above ISO1600. I know a lot of people can get excellent results from the 7D, even at high ISO, and I can get some fantastic shots from the 7D so I'm hoping to keep the 7D for a while and give the 7D and the 70D a good side by side test and then use whichever body will give me the best results. I'm sure the wife will make good use of whichever body I'm not using anyway.

yeah thats basically what the above shows, the 60D and the 70D seem very similar on noise and detail results and the images I have seen from canon look stunning!

Its like you say, the 60D i happily will shoot 3200 all day long, this one of this bird is 1600iso and looks perfectly fine to me.

But like you say, have seen other people saying 800 is bad on the 7D which is so strange!

Well, I've been into L.C.E. today and ordered it. Should be here just in time for my birthday so I'm a happy bunny. I suppose I could start an official owners thread on here now lol.

I want one to replace my 550D, but I don't want to pay the high release day price. I've noticed imports from HK on gaybay for £800 so it shouldn't be long before HDEW and Digital Rev are selling them for around that price too.

Well as soon as the likes of HDEW and Digitalrev are selling them for that price, I'll be buying one too.
