7D AF-On shot take?

Don't have the camera to hand so does anyone know...

I have AF-ON set to focus, shutter button set to exposure and shot only, if the camera is set to 'one shot' and not in focus can you hold down the shutter button and it won't release the shutter until you use the AF-ON and it locks focus then takes the photo kind of making the AF-On a shutter release? :bonk:
 
My 7d is set up the same. I think you are asking that, when configured this way will the shutter fire without the focus being confirmed ?

I would say yes, as I have had shots fire off when I've knocked the shutter button while handling the camera and the result has nothing in focus (but without trying it I wouldn't swear to it...)

Yeah I'm kind of asking if it will fire without focus, technically it shouldn't when use the shutter button only but not sure if it changes when you seperate out the functions.
 
I believe it does as your are disconnecting the shutter button with the AF system.

2 ticks and i'll try it.

Edit: Yes it does still fire whilst completely OOF.
