7D battery grip

Does anybody have any experience with 3rd party grips for the 7D? If you do, what do you think of the quality?

I'm trying to decide between Canon and 3rd party, which are about a third of the price, or a 3rd party with digital timer built in that are about half the price of the original grip.

If it's any help to you, I had a Hahnel on my 50D. It wasn't bad and the IR remote was nice, but it had a habit of working loose. Since the battery was in the grip this caused the camera to stop working which was a bit scarey the first time.

When I got my 7D I got the genuine grip and the quality is discernably better. It does not work loose.

I had a 3rd party grip on my 7D and I didn't have any problems with it. Never had a Canon grip before so I can't compared but it didn't feel any different to my mkiv really.

Mine didn't work lose either, but I did always have it very tight

I have got a 3rd party grip on my 7d and every thing works just fine infact i also hav a 3rd party grip on my 40d which has been on for over 2 years without anyfaults so 3rd party stuff for me, i only get the ones with the same amout of buttons etc as the canon originals none of this fancy lcd timers etc

My first 3rd party grip for my 7d had a sticking shutter button, but they replaced it without a problem and new one works fine

I have a genuine canon one on my 7d and there isnt THAT much difference...... well certainly not worth 50% extra
