7D flash commander

On the 7D using the pop up flash as the 'wireless' flash commander does this only work with the 430 & 580 models for TTL, ratios etc?

I know I can use optical slaves and manual with pretty much anything but looking to get a 2nd flash perhaps on top of the 430 EX II I have now.

It seems to work well enough with the Nissin 866i (with E-TTL), if that helps.

I think the 550 ex works as well, the Nissin's should do, I use the Di622 with an ST-E2 commander and it works fine.
