7D focus point illumination

My Settings:
CFn:III - 8 (Enabled)
CFn:III - 9 (Enabled)
One Shot AF
SIngle point AF (center)



On 50D or 5D2, when you press the shutter, only the chosen AF point lights up (red), am I missing something on the 7D because all the AF points light up even when I only choose x1 AF point.

Thanks, that's different to my question. I don't want AF illumination on AI Servo, I don't use AI Servo.

I'm only using manual focus point selection and One Shot AF.

My question is, why do all of the displayed af points light up even when I only chose the middle point.

I hope I made myself clear...

Thanks for trying to help but no, CFIII-9 will display all autofocus points (black squares) which I already have enabled. I wonder why all focus points light up when I press the shutter even when I only chose one focus point (center).

I'm comparing to a 50D where the chosen focus point will be the only one that lights up when pressing the shutter.

you need to disable that one, then it should only show the active focus point, just checked mine and its disabled and it only shows the active point.

Yes I've done tried already, but I want all the autofocus points to display as a guide which focus point I'm at just like the 50D or 5D2.

Can you please check yours?

You need to set it to Disable then only the active one displays page 213 in your manual

Are we sure we're not confusing the two different illumination types? Yes the active (locked) point(s) will show in red in One Shot mode and not in AI modes but there's also the viewfinder illumination which activates in low light (unless overridden via CFIII-8).

I have already played wih those settings
0- Auto = the active (chosen) focus point will illuminate in when its dark, it does not in braod daylight
1- Enabled = will illuminate no matter what
2- Disabled = no illumination

Now my CFnIII-8 setting is either 0 (Auto) or 1 (Enabled)
In conjunction with CFn III-9 1(Enabled)

The settings above when both enabled) will display all the focus points in black squares, and supposed to light up the chosen (active) focus point.

My problem is all focus points light up when I press the shutter even I when only choose 1 focus point.

As confirmed by a member from potn , its normal. I also went to good old jessops this morning and tried their 7D... same as mine...
