7D Help Please

7D, card on PC, told to format card, unable to download pics with Canon, camera display reads 999, only 889mb of a kingston 266x 8gb card used, any ideas out there please?

If there's no pics you care about on the card, have you tried formatting the card in the camera through the menu system and choose 'Format Card'

Can you explain where you see this ?
It could be the number of remaining shots that will fit on the card. If its more than 1000 I think it might show 999 until it drops under that.

If you plug the camera in to the computer does the camera appear ? if you click on it what is inside ?

When I changed the image quality on mine to jpg and no raw the "counter" shows 999, when I switch raw back on it drops to 486. Shows how many shots left on card. (mine is 16gb tho wiith 1.4gb used. can you transfer images while connected to the camera via usb?
