I'm looking to do some high mag macro (2:1) at f16 and f22 and have read that the 7D doesn't like these small apertures. Can anyone post macro images at these apertures and let me know if quality is OK. Many thanks

Its not that the 7D does,nt like small apetures its that the lens will show diffraction softening once you get past about F16
F 8 to 11 is the normal range for macro
Personally for Macro I normally dont go past f8 and normally use 5.6 to 6.3 but I do like a shallow depth of field:)

Many macro shooters shoot up to f/22 and beyond. It's a trade off, just like high ISO. if you require a deeper DOF, then you need to stop down further, you may suffer some diffraction, trial and error will tell you how your lens performs at smaller apertures.

One way around it is focus stacking - shoot multiple exposures at optimum apertures for sharpness, at different focus positions, and combine in post processing.

Not something I've done personally, but I've seen plenty of very impressive results with huge DoF and sparkling sharpness. Needs a static subject though.
