7D screen protector

and I know you don't really need to protect the already protected screen but I like to keep things looking nice and new....so.... any advice on the best screen protector to use on a 7D please

One of these ----> GGS lcd protector - currently have one fitted to my D700 (& all my Nikons cameras have had one fitted)
The GGS as above. Glass, and way better, easier to attach and more durable than the plastic film ones which, in my experience, have always lasted next to no time before a corner starts to lift and peel.
The link given, Crooked Imaging, at £13 PLUS post is not the cheapest supplier by a long way, and they never are. I've used Greenlife on ebay a number of times and they've given good service

The link wasn't to say to buy from Simon (Crooked Imaging) it was just to show you the GGS - to give you an idea of what it is really..
Obviously there are cheaper places to buy from ie Hong Kong on ebay - but I've used Simon for accessories with no hassle what so ever - he's also very helpful with any enquiries that you may have... Being a UK seller..

Invisibleshields by Zagg will not peel off.
They are a bit fiddle to put on, but once on, they stay on.
I've used them over the last few years on mobiles. Always helps with the resale value later on.

I haven't used any other screen protectors, so can't really compare as such; but I'm another very happy Invisible Shield user. Take your time applying it and it should last forever. Never had one peel on me.
Buy online direct from the US and you can get free (exc shipping) replacements if it ever gets scratched and when you replace your gear. I recently returned a faulty 7D which had an Inv Shield on it. Easy to remove, post back to Zagg (~60p iirc) and they sent me a free replacement.
You can very easily get discount codes off the net. I usually get 40-50% off. Go via Quidco and you get 20% cashback too. Works out very good value.

What would you prefer a extra piece of tough glass (GGS) or a piece of film to protect a screen - I'd go for the GGS but then again thats just me...
I've always fitted one to all camera's inc the smaller lcd screen - I've also one for my Sb600 flash as well.....
You do what you think is best - its your camera & money
I put a GGS on my GF1 back in March. At some time in recent weeks a corner got chipped and a crack appeared down one edge. Nothing to warrant replacing it and it's hardly noticeable. But I'd hazard a guess that had it not been there, then it could have been the LCD cracked instead.

Something to remember - the Canon 7D already has a screen protector on it.
Should anything happen a replacement can be obtained from Canon fairly cheap and I understand it is not especially difficult to fit.

Looking at the images from this advert it appears the shield flexes (ultra thin glass). I fail to see how this would offer any more protection in an impact than a film (Invisible Shield) scratch protector would. The force would be transferred straight through the glass to the LCD screen below.
