7D Shuts Down On Start Up

Last year I turned on my 7D for the camera to instantly bring up the sensor cleaning screen then shut down (not power saving completely switch off ) I cured this by quickly taking a shot as soon as I started the camera and has been fine ever since but the same thing has happened to a brand new 7D I have bought with the very first start up out of the box and cured the same way.

Any ideas ?

Does it do this with the lens on or off?
Have you tried changing the card?
What firmware are you using?

Thanks for reply Ken in answer to your questions it happens with lens on or off and changed cards and batteries the firmware is the default no updates.

The strange thing is with the older body it happened last July and has never happened again and with the new body happened straight out of the box the first time I switched on but now seems fine its a strange one could be battery charging issues but why only happen once plus the old body fired up no probs for the first time this week since last Oct with the same battery still in place but when I put that battery in new body no joy until I performed the same trick that cured this prob first time round
 
There have been reports about this issue.
Firmware update fixed most of them, though this was because the camera was reading the temp incorrectly and shut the camera down.
Some were caused by non standard batteries and some through formatting problems.
One was because there was a fault with a lens.

Might be because of dirty contacts. It happens with all cameras.

That may be the reason as I have some of the 7day shop batteries plus the genuine Canon ones as long as its not a major fault with the camera I'll not worry just wanted to find out while still under warranty
