So bit last minute as i go away tomorrow but i have been looking at timelapses and really like them.

Basicall i have a 7D, wireless remote, 16gb card and lenses so guess i'm good to go.

But does anyone know the best settings etc and that to get an effective piece e.g. light trails, lights turning on/off, clouds moving....

how many shots a minute or whatever

Much appreciated

It will vary from scene to scene, and depend on your focal length (the longer your focal length, the shorter the interval, as things will move a greater distance relative to the size of the frame).

It's something you'll have to determine depending on the look you're after.

Sometimes I'm shooting 8fps til the camera tells me it can't shoot no more, sometimes I'm shooting a frame every 30 seconds.

Sometimes shutter speed's at 1/8000, sometimes I'm at 30 seconds. There's no magical setting that'll work all the time, even shooting the same subject.

It's just something you have to experiment with and learn by experiencing.

That said, most landscapes with clouds moving work well with 2-4 second intervals.

When I was investigating this, one thing I picked up was that the best-looking results seemed to come when the shutter speed was one-half the frame interval. Here was what I got as a result - Link
