I have a 7d but thinking of going ff so a mk111 ,I would loose the crop but if I cropped the full frame picture to the same size of the 7d what would the image be like ?

I went from 7D to 5D3, but never really bothered about the crop as I also changed my lenses to suit.

The few occasions when I do need to crop, I have had no issues with image quality cropping down to even 100%. However if you already crop on the 7D then gong full frame without changing lenses to match may not be the best option for you.

Why are you thinking of going 5D3?

why not frame and compose images as best as you can and stop worrying about some factor? Of course 5D3 is a lot sharper per pixel due to less noise and weaker AA filter and you can have the whole frame of that goodness for your images.

What type of photography do you shoot? what are your subjects?

That's all well and good providing the subject is a known distance, with some more distant wildlife you can even struggle to get the subject a good size in the viewfinder, which is where the crop factor would help. Even my 1d4 & 800mm f5.6 is sometimes too little reach for some subjects (such as wild raptors on the coast which have been a main target for me recently)

For any other form of photography i imagine it would be a no-brainer :)
