7D Video question.

Can anyone tell me if the video function on the 7D can be triggered by remote control (ie the remote shutter release) please?

Just tried and would appear not.

You could use the Eos Utility software on a laptop and a long usb.

I believe the RC-6 IR remote release will do so.
