7D with 400 f5.6

I have just ordered this lens for my 7D
Is there any tips or advice? I will mainly be using it for wildlife
and I would love to see some examples of this combo

"OneTen" uses that combination...maybe search for some of his recent posts and check the EXIF. I've also got the option but appear to have mislaid the 400/5.6 at the moment :shrug:

I used the 400mm with a 1D and loved it. It wasn't that heavy a combo even on a 1D, so you should have no issues lugging it around. Just remember to keep up the shutter speeds. If you do motorsport, you might wish to consider a monopod.

It is considered to be an excellent Bird in flight lens with good IQ, despite not having IS as shutter speeds are usually high enough to make IS unneccessary. For more static subjects and lower speeds you may need a tripod/monopod or very good technique.

Cheers guys,
Im of to Wicken Fen today to give her a test drive. Forcast is Sunny/intervals so hopefully light will be ok.
I will take my monopod and bean bags just in case
