I need a lens hood for my 17-55 2.8, and I could either go down the official route and buy a 30 pound hood, or get one of the 7dayshop branded ones, for 6 pounds posted. Surely it's not as good, does anyone have any experience with them? They are all incredibly cheap, almost too cheap.
 
Nothing wrong with them! I have one on my 55-250mm IS and bought one for my 70-200mm L but found the original at my Daughters house just after it came, so use it as a spare. They look the same, look like they will last the same, have a matt interior, do exactly the same job as the more expensive Canon jobbies. Go for it!

Great, the matte interior was my only major concern, as I've seen a few cheap copies without that.
 
I've got a third party one knocking around somewhere which you can have for the price of postage if you like.
 
Let me have a rummage first and see if I can find it! :)
 
I bought a cheapie from 7 day shop a few years back as the 17-40 hood was a bit pointless on 1.6x cropped sensor cameras, so I got the 17-55 hood instead which was more effective.

If Vertigo1 can't find his I'll have a rummage around too on the same postage only basis.
 
Not had chance to search the attic yet. Basically I had a third-party one but replaced it with a genuine Canon as I'm anal :)

Pretty sure I never binned the old one but god knows what I did with it.
