82mm CPL Polarising Filter

I have been looking at a circular polarising filter for my Sigma 150 - 500 lens (82mm). I am gobsmacked by the huge variations in price for this item.
From £199.99 + £3.95 P & P (comes in a gold plated carry case ?) to £4.69 + £3 P & P (Circular = bottom of a milk bottle ?).

Would be interested to hear comments from anyone who has recently purchased a filter of this type to give me a better idea at what realistic price range I should be looking at

I've always seen putting a filter on the end of my lens like an extension of the lens itself. Therefore if you have a £1000 lens, why put something cheap on it that will degrade the image quality.

I use a Hoya CPL-Pro 1, but if the lens was a better one I would probably invest in a Hoya CPL HD

The more expensive ones will be multi coated, and most likely THIN for use with wide angles.
Having a thin filter won't be important on the 150-500 though.
The really cheap ones won't have any coatings.
