85L Question

Pretty much so, i think the MK11 is 1.7 x faster.

A lot of people say even the MK11 is slow, but i can't fault it for what i use it for, the MK1 is still a great lens though, just don't expect to be able to use it for fast subjects.

I looked at one a while back for indoor action shots but it was very slow to achive focus, much slower than the f1.8 I did take a couple of portrait type still shots and the effects were superb so I think it's really just down to what the intended use is.

If mine's anything to go by them a 20m Zimmer frame dash would be outside its capabilities in the focus tracking stakes. Speedwise, it's on a par with the older DC macro lenses.

but...

if the subject is static then it's a hard lens to beat.
