A 5th set from Edinburgh Festival

A great series but something's missing - none of them really say Edinburgh to me. I lived there for a year and recognised a few OOF backgrounds but I would like to see something that rooted them to the festival and Edinburgh if you see what I mean.

My next two sets were all taken on the 14 to 24 (a first), so should hopefully bring more of the city into play. They really don't have the same impact though, and I am not as keen at all.

Gary.

I think mixing just one or two shots that clue in on some "classic" Edinburgh landmarks is all it needs. Without it I think they lose some identity.

Cheers mate, I love to get all the comments and critique, it really helps focus me and it drives me to keep on keeping on.

Gary, another fab set (or few rolled into one ). I notice you seem to nail everything thing in a shot from time to time, except one thing... the composition. However, I don't think this is a huge problem, as the rest of the image is usually so good it takes nothing away from it iykwim. I am only talking about a few though, considering how many there are this is neither here nor there (y) &

Cheers Jo, and thanks for the kind comments. Thank you too for the honest crit, very much appreciated. I am working on my next set of these, all of them to date have been on the 70 to 300 vr. My next batch, 14 to 24, and what a different beast. Definately not the best lens I feel for these shots. It does however bring more of the festival into play, but not overly excited.

I think compisition will be much more important on the 14 to 24, due to how much of the scene it captures.

Thanks again

Gary.

Okay,

This set here all taken on the 14mm to 24mm, and on full frame that's slightly wider than the Sigma 10 to 20 on a crop, to give you an idea, I cannot describe how close I had to get for some of these shots. I find it a very difficult lens to use for this type of shot, and I cannot wait to get my hands on a 24 to 70 f2.8, which I reckon would be much better.

Here goes! :0) Some selective desaturation in these (red hats for example). I don't think these are anywhere near as good as the 70 to 300 shots.

Cracking images as every and great PP Gary....

Number 1 and 9 are my pick..

Nigel

Thanks very much Nigel, just spent the entire day there with my family, Daz (Edmond22 here), and Michael (Stressless here).

Between us, must have bagged 1,000 shots.

Crazy but fun :D
