I took these photos after our group drove out of Dalhart ,Texas into open countryside. Miles of flat countryside. Way ahead we saw two hawks sitting in a dead tree (hit by lightning) and they took off, one landing close to the road, the other going in the opposite direction. Just a normal road not a large one so very little traffic. We stopped and it remained on the ground so we took photos and it remained there after we left. It was a 4-5 month old Swainson's Hawk.

I imagine it's spread its wings to make it look larger and more menacing which many creatures do is they feel under threat.I was more bothered about it than it must have been of me.

I used a 70-200 f4 lens on a 5D11. Unfortunately, once again sharp in my Lr but gone a tad soft on here.
